- The RN – Endoscopy provides nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal and related endoscopic procedures. This includes pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure assistance, monitoring of sedation and patient response, and post-procedure recovery. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care throughout the procedural experience.\nEssential Functions\n
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care before, during, and after endoscopy procedures\n
- Administers and monitors conscious sedation and manages patient responses during procedures\n
- Assists physicians with endoscopic procedures including biopsies, polyp removal, and hemostasis\n
- Monitors patient condition, vital signs, and cardiac rhythms, reporting changes promptly\n
- Provides pre- and post-procedure patient education and discharge instructions\n
- Documents all nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately\n
- Maintains a safe and clean environment, adheres to infection control and safety protocols\n
- Handles specimens appropriately and ensures proper labeling and documentation\n
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives and staff education\n
- Responds effectively to emergencies and follows facility emergency protocols\nKnowledge, Abilities, Skills & Expectations\n
- Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills\n
- Proficient in IV therapy, sedation monitoring, and airway management\n
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills\n
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment\n
- Familiarity with endoscopic equipment, sterile technique, and procedural workflow\n
- Competency in electronic documentation and EMR systems\n

- Physical ability to assist with patient positioning and respond to clinical demands\nQualifications Education\n
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), required\n
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred\nLicenses & Certifications\n
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice\n
- Basic Life Support (BLS), required\n
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), required\n
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), preferred\nExperience\n
- Minimum 6 months of clinical nursing experience in a direct patient care setting preferred\n
