Clinician II - Community Support Services
The Clinician II, provides clinical, case management, and consultation services for individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, and / or developmental disabilities and their family / caregivers.
Also provides counseling, therapy, crisis intervention, assessment, Individual Service Plan (ISP) development, psycho-education, and referrals to consumers and their family / caregivers.
Develops and maintains working relationships with individuals served, families and / or caregivers, other NRVCS programs, and other community agencies and resources as needed to ensure quality services.
Hourly Starting Rate : $26.77-Depending on Experience
Responsibilities
Performs assessments / intakes, crisis resolution, and helps obtain emergency services as needed. Provides counseling, psycho-education, goal-setting, and specialized therapy as prescribed in the ISP.
Ensures that assigned clients have assessments and intake paperwork completed prior to beginning services and in accordance with applicable regulations and NRVCS standards.
If trained, provides diagnostic evaluation and testing as needed. Provides for and assists with coordination of treatment and services.
Provides for continuity of care including discharge, referral, placement, follow-up appointments, and liaison services.
- Develops effective, behaviorally specific, and measurable ISPs for assigned clients as required by policy. Ensures that ISPs are reviewed at least quarterly and updated as needed and per policy.
- Maintains all communications, both written and verbal, with respect and confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 standards and regulations.
- Performs at the expected levels of individual and team productivity. Ensures all client records are in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements including guidelines as they pertain to DBHDS Licensure Regulations, Waiver, State Plan and Clinic Options Medicaid.
- Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with both internal and external referral sources. Advocates for services on the behalf of clients and their families, including educational, legal, medical, and financial assistance.
- Works together with the Outpatient Team and Same Day Access to provide billable services at the rate specified for the program or by the supervisor.
Completes clinical documentation on same business day to ensure accurate billing.
Assists with crisis resolution and general problem-solving. Ensures services are provided with respect to the dignity of the individuals served as outlined in the State and NRVCS Human Rights Plans.
Advocates for services on behalf of individuals served and their families / care givers as needed. Documents and reports suspected violations of Human Rights according to NRVCS policies.
- Strives to promote continuous quality improvement of services through the timely completion of QA activities.
- Promotes positive communication and collaboration among clients, families and / or caregivers, team members, and other community resources to provide quality services.
Conducts self in a professional manner at all times. Participates in team meetings and weekly licensure and administrative supervision, unless absence is excused, completes proper written communication and relays other helpful information as necessary by voice mail and / or e-mail.
Serves on designated teams, committees and work groups.
- Ensures all required certifications and / or licensure are kept up to date. Attends / provides other training as required to meet personal professional development and / or program needs.
- Completes other tasks and duties as assigned by Supervisor, Program Manager, Program Director and / or Senior Director.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of best practice treatments for mental health, substance use, intellectual and developmental disability, and co-occurring disorders.
- Thorough knowledge of DSM-V etiology, symptoms, treatment, and prognoses.
- Knowledge of and ability to administer various treatments and therapeutic modalities as appropriate and / or prescribed.
- Basic knowledge of agency, local, state, and federal regulations; Medicaid guidelines; standards for clinical services;
and related human rights, ethical, and legal concerns.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Basic working knowledge of pertinent medical, legal, and financial terminology; and psychopharmacology.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team; think critically and problem solve effectively; and recognize and respond to crises appropriately.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license (state of Virginia, unless otherwise approved by agency) with an acceptable driving record.
- Must maintain acceptable record throughout employment.
- Must have an acceptable criminal history background and child protective services check upon hire and maintained throughout employment;
- Must have acceptable drug screen results upon hire.
Education / Experience Required :
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other license-eligible human services field required.
- State of Virginia license required in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family or other related field
- At least one year of clinical experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental and / or intellectual disabilities, preferred.
