Summary :

Communicate with claimant regarding the procedure for filing the claim

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Review claim information and other records to ascertain completeness and validity of claim

Oversee the arrangement, inspection and repair of damaged goods; monitor performance of contractors to insure repair is performed satisfactorily and timely

Correspond with all parties involved in the settlement of claim

Compute and calculate amount of claim; claimant is paid the amount due according to settlement agreement and company procedures

Determine which carrier is liable for damage of shipment; If chargeable, prepare a claims package with invoice and all documentation to support the settlement

Qualifications :

Education / Experience : High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Excellent customer service and oral / written communication skills required.

Math Ability : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills : To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel. Must have strong data entry skills.
