Position Overview

The primary function of this position is to equip site staff with the skills to provide best-practice care. The Site Trainer is responsible for developing, implementing, overseeing BHT staff training programs and frontline onboarding training. This position prepares staff for TJC Audits and plays a major role in maintaining compliance. This position works closely with other departments to identify and solve training gaps.

  • Mon-Fri 10-6. Subject to change based on training needs

Qualifications

Training

  • Develops, implement and deliver comprehensive training programs for frontline staff
  • Collaborates with the Behavioral Health Technician Leadership to manage the Advanced Frontline Training program
  • Collaborates with the Nutrition Manager and Culinary Manager to develop and support meal coaching initiatives
  • Partners with other multidisciplinary teams to identify training needs and ensure alignment of training content with facility protocols and client care standards
  • Oversees preceptor training program and train preceptors on effective mentoring techniques, coaching strategies, and evaluation methods
  • Conducts comprehensive training sessions on Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) techniques, ensuring staff are equipped to manage crisis situations safely and effectively
  • Collaborates with IT and frontline management to ensure staff training on computer systems and EHR meets organizational needs
  • Owns all core modality training for frontline staff such as DBT, Meal Coaching / Support, Portioning, FBT, EHR Training etc.
  • Acts as lead trainer for restraint & seclusion protocols
  • Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of training attendance, feedback and assessment outcomes to monitor staff progress and ensure compliance with training requirements.
  • Partners with HR to ensure staff have all required training / paperwork required by TJC within first 90 days of employment
  • Prepares frontline teams to manage Emergency Responses (work alongside Facilities & Quality to run drills and other simulations).
  • Coordinates with Facilities to make certain that the milieu adheres to TJC standards
  • Audits meals and snacks to ensure adherence to the Emily Program's meal coaching guidelines
  • Evaluates success of training by auditing charts, shadowing staff and conducting mock TJC
  • Provides reports to Executive Director and other leadership regarding training initiatives and outcomes
  • Utilizes Accanto Learning Center (ALC) to track all provided training
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Education Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or related field highly preferred and at least 3+ years experience in a similar position / related field preferred.
  • Professional Qualifications

  • 2 years of previous experience with behavioral healthcare, including inpatient, residential, group home, PRTF, or other acute settings
  • Prior experience with creating and implementing training or learning & development programs
  • Understanding of Eating Disorders, preferred
  • Understanding of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT),
  • Previous leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Other Qualifications

  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites must have a valid driver's license
  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites in North Carolina or Georgia are required to have a current CPI certification within 30 days of hire
  • Physical demands : Sitting 70-75%, Standing 25-30%; bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping or crouching when appropriate
  • Lift, carry, push or pull up to approx. 40 pounds
  • Promotes a culture of accountability, engagement, and development
  • Uses de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies appropriately
  • Provides real-time skills coaching to clients in distress
  • Builds positive relationships with staff, clients, and leadership through active listening and empathy
  • Demonstrates professionalism and therapeutic communication in all interactions
  • Provides structured onboarding and ongoing training for new and existing BHT staff
  • Works effectively across departments to achieve shared goals
  • Demonstrates flexibility in managing changing priorities and staffing needs
