ROLE AND PURPOSE :
- Under limited supervision, plans, develops, implements and evaluates effective communications efforts including strategy development, content determination, creative direction, research, writing and editing for multiple projects.
- Will have a passion for storytelling, have a strong grasp of current communications tools and strategies and in partnership with communications team members, be able to execute the district's marketing and communications plan. Will work closely with the entire Marketing & Communications team, vendors, internal departments / teams, external partners and others to launch initiatives on time and on budget. Will coach others in less senior positions.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certification :
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, advertising or related field.Experience :
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications or a related field.Special Skills / Knowledge :
Strong understanding and passion for current communications concepts, strategy and best practices.Working knowledge of social media tools such as Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn.Ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external partners.Excellent project management and people skills.Strong AP Style writing ability a must.Proofreading ability a must.Strong organizational and communications skills a must.Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to work collaboratively and independently.Ability to remain flexible.Attention to details and accuracy.Proactive and resourceful with a "can-do" attitude.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
I. BOND 2014, BOND 2019, VATRE
Develop and execute strategic marketing and communications plans for district-wide projects.Identify challenges and emerging issues related to these targeted projects and serve as the primary point of contact for community questions and needs.Prepare copies for news releases, speeches, scripts, newsletters, brochures, feature stories, web stories, social media posts, PowerPoint presentations, stewardship reports and more.Provide weekly content for use on social media feeds and the district website.Conceptualize and execute a Stakeholder Events Plan to include a calendar of stakeholder activities to be held in person or virtually designed to raise awareness of how voter-approved funds are used.Create quarterly stewardship reports for stakeholders that lead to engagement opportunities.Utilize and assign other team members and contractors to increase the number of stories produced that highlight Bond 2014, Bond 2019 and the VATRE.II. GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
Support district officials involved in government affairs initiatives by serving as the Marketing and Communications liaison.Develop a communications outreach plan to ensure quality content is provided on a calendared basis to government officials.Oversee the production of collateral pieces needed for the legislative agenda and other government affairs activities.Support the government affairs team by serving on internal and external committees.Develop and maintain the government affairs marketing database and target stakeholders with stewardship reports, event invitations, opportunities to meet with Dr. Cavazos, District Updates and more.III. MEDIA RELATIONS :
Research and write content for news releases on Bond 2014, Bond 2019, VATRE, government affairs initiatives and other topics that support Arlington ISD.Recommend newsworthy stories likely to be picked up by news media.Conduct research for responsive media requests.Maintain monthly media log to track coverage of Bond 2014, Bond 2019, VATRE and government affairs initiatives.IV. MISCELLANEOUS :
Video content creation, supervision of interns, work beyond regular schedule and weekend work required.Attend weekly content creation meetings.Support assigned internal communications projects.Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Communications Officer.V. WORKING CONDITIONS :
