Position Overview : We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teachers to join our team in San Francisco, CA, for the 2024-2025 school year.
As a DHH Teacher, you will work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing to provide specialized instruction and support to help them succeed academically and socially.
Multiple openings are available for the upcoming school year.
Responsibilities :
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing using appropriate instructional strategies and materials
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to address students' unique needs and goals
- Collaborate with educational interpreters, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to ensure effective communication and access to the curriculum
- Adapt curriculum materials and resources to meet the needs of students with hearing loss
- Provide support and guidance to students in developing communication skills, including sign language, speech, and auditory skills
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to support academic growth and development
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and other team members to provide updates on student progress and discuss strategies for supporting student success
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development activities as required
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
- Valid teaching credential or license in Deaf Education or Special Education with a DHH endorsement
- Certification in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- At least one year of recent experience working as a DHH Teacher in a school setting
- Knowledge of best practices in Deaf Education and experience with instructional strategies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
