Neurology Nurse Practitioner

The successful applicant will be an Advanced Practice Provider interested in working full-time in the care of patients with Neurological Disease, treating patients with a diagnosis of Alzheimer s Disease, as well as other Cognitive & Behavioral Neurology diagnosis. This APP position functions in a team-based arrangement that is part of the newly formed South Carolina Alzheimer s Network (SCAN) . SCAN is a multi-site clinical program at MUSC health designed to provide patients with an early and accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, longitudinal co-management with primary care, access to the new Alzheimer s disease medications, and access to the latest research.

The person filling this position will be part of an interdisciplinary team working to achieve these goals and will have ample opportunity to collaborate with other team members and primary care providers to enhance the care of dementia patients and their families. The ideal candidate is an individual looking to optimize their practice while thriving within a team-based environment.

Fair Labor Standards Act Status : Salaried / Exempt

Hours per week : 40

Scheduled Work Hours / Shift : Monday Friday, 8AM 5PM or 8 : 30AM to 5 : 30PM, 4-hour clinic blocks x 8 clinics p / week.

Patient Population Focus : Outpatient

Patient Population Age Range : 18 years-death

Required Training and Experience

Required Minimum Training : Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.

• Physician Assistant

or

APRN License Type / Certification : Currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of South Carolina as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners or as an Advanced Practice Nurse (FNP or APNP) with the SC Board of Nursing. Requires certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Required Experience : Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.

Degree of Supervision

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising / Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date :

Basic Life Support (BLS).

DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.

Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands / wrists / elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20 / 40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and / or carry objects weighing 50 lbs. (+ / -) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined / cramped spaces.
