Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A K-12 school in Forest City, NC is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) for a contract covering the current school year (CSY). This role focuses on supporting visually impaired students by teaching them techniques and strategies to navigate their environments safely and independently.
Qualifications :
- Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work alongside educators, families, and other support staff
- Ability to develop individualized mobility plans and adapt instruction to student needs
