Description :
Perform routine and specialized examinations in the specialty area of CT and diagnostic radiology.
Adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and / or therapeutic results.
Prepare patients for examinations.
This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.
Clinical Excellence :
Perform procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination.
Exhibit competency in performing and filming CT and radiographic procedures.
Deviate from routines when the patient's condition requires it.
Knowledgeable of procedures and assist radiologist.
Order labs and pathology tests, and schedule procedures appropriately.
Possess knowledge of invasive procedures and sterile tray setup.
Assist radiologist, handle catheters and guidewires.
Obtain and document accurate pre and post procedure information as applicable.
Follow patient safety goals.
Maintain quality care throughout the procedure.
Possess knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing.
Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with provider orders and hospital lab procedures / policies.
Quality Improvement :
Maintain working knowledge of equipment to function in all aspects of CT and Diagnostic Radiology.
Perform support functions to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.
Be technically knowledgeable of CT and diagnostic equipment operation.
Perform reasonable troubleshooting.
Check and observe equipment for general safety, maintenance, and appropriate operation.
Report equipment problems through appropriate channels.
Maintain a clean work area and check and stock all supplies in the specific area.
Promptly process images and paperwork according to proper procedures.
Maintain and coordinate patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care.
Promptly and accurately complete all fields in the Radiology system.
Ensure a safe environment for patients and personnel.
Maintain quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement programs.
Departmental Support :
Assume personal responsibility for training fellow technologists / students.
Use time, supplies, and resources productively.
Share knowledge and encourage fellow technologists / students with proper protocols.
Display a professional attitude toward fellow technologists / students.
Complete care while conserving resources and preventing waste of supplies.
Use slow time to improve area appearance and accept additional assignments.
