Immediate MAJOR JOB PURPOSE : Coordinate, direct and control payroll preparation, processing and distribution.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Accounting Manager
SALARY RANGE : $76,000 - $79,000
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES :
- Monitor the accurate processing of staff appointments, transfers, promotions and terminations.
- Process payroll for all staff.
- Updating payroll maintenance records from tax withholding forms, direct deposit, garnish wages, etc.
- Collect, data entry and verify the completion of misc. timesheet, extra pay form, and curriculum contracts by checking signatures, hours, general ledger account coding and hourly rate.
- Process payroll taxes, TRB distribution and manage monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Process Investment and Pension accounts (i.e. 403b; 457; ICMA).
- Manage payroll workload to meet operational requirements.
- Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner.
- Maintain employees' master file in financial management system.
- Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements.
- Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports.
- Prepare and review payroll account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate account balances.
- Review and improve payroll policies and procedures.
- Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Support all internal and external audits related to payroll.
- Interpret new legislation impacting payroll.
- Manage and resolve issues relating to payroll production.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll and leave records.
- Handle employee questions and concerns, and resolve problems.
SPECIFIC DUTIES :
Enter data and verify information for the payroll system, including hours worked, accounts charged, etc. Assure that all deductions are correctly maintained on the system. This requires understanding of contracts, benefits plan, etc.Maintains and updates the MUNIS database.Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department transfers.Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.Processes the final reports and produces the checks for employees / vendors each payday.Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.Responsible for accuracy, completeness, balance and general quality of all reports, checks, and statements dealing with payroll.Operate calculator, computer terminal, office copier, check stuffing machine, and other miscellaneous office machines.Telephone contact with employees, and school offices.All other duties as assigned.Key Competencies

Associate's Degree in business and / or three plus years' experience in computerized payroll system.Knowledge of MUNIS Software System preferred.Demonstrate an understanding of payroll taxes.Knowledge of accounting principles and practicesIn-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing.Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal rules and laws.Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software.Must be proficient in computer applications such as Excel & Word.Apply Online...www.windsorct.org
