Job Summary
This role will report directly to the Project Engineering Manager, or Sr. Manager / BP and support the project engineering team across various Silver-Line Plastics locations. This role requires the incumbent to have experience in project leadership, stakeholder management, strategic planning, problem solving, quality assurance, and process improvement. The work will be in both the plants and corporate office with a focus on the more complex projects in our portfolio. Role requires close collaboration across departments such as operations, maintenance, quality control, health and safety, logistics, etc.
Principal Responsibilities
- As an SME (subject matter expertise - topic TBD) provide guidance to broader department and the organization (as needed).
- Lead and oversee the execution of complex engineering projects, including
managing resources, budgets, and timelines. Projects include various modifications to facilities, equipment, and buildings.
Plan and manage the installation and commissioning phases in our plants, while ensuring that the corporate health and safety standards are observed.Ensure the quality, safety and conformity of work and equipment, before and after delivery and installation.Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.Contribute to the development of project strategies and goals, aligning them with broader organizational objectives.Tackle complex engineering challenges, make critical decisions, and resolve technical issues that arise during project implementation.Implement quality control measures, review design, and construction documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.Identify areas for process optimization, propose innovative solutions, and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.Qualifications And Experience
More than 8 years of progressive experience in engineering, in a manufacturing environment or in a related field, or 3+ years' experience plus an official engineer's title.Bachelor of Mechanical or Civil EngineeringKnowledge of extrusion and plastic molding equipment would be an asset.Ability to work independently and within a team, with strong skills in personalmotivation, influencing stakeholders, and relationship management.
Ability to handle multimillion dollar projectsExcellent skills in customer relationship management.Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong organizational skills and rigor in detailed analysis.Capacity to learn and evolve in a changing and technological environment.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholdersStrong knowledge of software such as AutoCad and the Office suite.Strong technical expertise in engineering principles, practices, and technologies.(Mechanical concepts, pneumatics and hydraulics)
Working Conditions
Employee may be exposed to a moderate level of hazards in the work environment, such as chemicals, commercial products, exposure to potential toxins, moving machinery, repetitive motion, excessive noise, powered industrial vehicle fork / reach / bucket lift / other.Frequently work indoors in corporate office environment with long periods of sitting.Incumbent spends 10-20% of their time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of minimal physical labour. Complete sketches, taking measurements, supervising work performed, standing and walking cover much of the work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to dust and noise. Moderate amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unpredictable workflow bring stress to this position.The incumbent understands, respects and adheres to the workplace Health & Safety rules and regulations.May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.Employee will not be required to perform specific tasks such as lifting, muscular action, body movements, working positions, posture changes.When going to Silver-Line Plastics plants, Employee will be required to wear protective eyewear, hearing protection, safety shoes, hard hat, and / or other.Employee may experience progressive degrees of factors in the work process which may cause mental tension or anxiety (changing work priorities, deadlines, accuracy, quotas, conflicting demands.Employee is expected to communicate by telephone, MS Teams (on camera), e-mail, and in-person discussions. Presentations of business cases and technical propositions will be required to senior management.Travel
