Deployment Operations Manager
Plans, organizes, and oversees all group / unit level deployment activities. Configures and maintains functional Unit Type Codes (UTCs) as postured by MAJCOM FAMs (Functional Area Managers) using available unit assets.
Ensures personnel and equipment readiness.
Provides technical guidance and recommendations to senior leadership regarding unit deployment program.
Performs analysis activities.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
Incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours to include evenings, weekends, and / or holidays, such as UTA weekends, contingencies, exercises or deployment.
Shift work and emergency overtime may be required.
May be required to work other duties as assigned.
The incumbent will be required to meet mandatory training requirements IAW Air Force Job Qualification Standard (AFJQS) 8U000 and must coordinate with local Logistics Plans section for training to include UDM CBT in ADLS, IDS / LOGMOD training, AEF Reporting Tool (ART) training, and Pallet Build-Up / Hazardous.
This position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME), needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity. Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Series 0301. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and precedents affecting deployment operations; knowledge of the theory and principles of management and organization, including administrative practices and procedures pertaining to areas of responsibility, channels of communication, delegation of authority, and routing of correspondence; Knowledge of the administrative processes and documentation requirements to ensure deployment readiness; Skill to adapt analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of the deployment program and in developing new and modified methods; Skill to apply analytical and evaluative techniques in the identification, consideration, and resolution of deployment issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature; Skill to prepare reports, and organize and give briefings to managers regarding deployment operations.
OR EDUCATION : master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related NOTE : You must submit copies of your transcripts.

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE : Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
