As an Accounting Specialist at AVEC, you will play a pivotal role in our journey towards a more efficient, dynamic, and collaborative workplace.

As an Accounting Specialist each day is a dynamic journey filled with tasks that keep the financial heart of our cooperative beating strong.

A typical day might include

• Reviewing data entry and payment batches prepared by the AP Clerk averaging $1.5M weekly
• Preparing business expense reimbursement and per diems
• Managing miscellaneous accounts receivable such as for billable construction
• Reconciling vendor statements to financial data in our legacy accounting software system
• Maintaining positive relationships with vendors including promptly addressing inquiries and discrepancies
• adhering to payment terms and internal controls
• Investigating, and resolving discrepancies or issues related to invoices, purchase orders, and payments
• Coordinating with internal departments as needed.

The ideal Accounting Specialist should have :

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision
• Exceptional organization and time management abilities, essential for working with financial workflows with limited automation (paper based)
• A solid understanding of utility accounting principles, complex GL strings, and cost center allocation.
• Effective communication skills
• Problem-solving abilities
• Flexibility to work in an environment with short deadlines and frequent interruptions
• Experience working with various database software platforms.
• A strong commitment to ethical conduct, privacy, and maintaining the confidentiality of financial information.
• Strong adaptability

Rewards :

• Starting pay between $29.57 to $32.85 per hour and is dependent upon experience
• Part time hours

Work Environment & Schedule : Our office in Anchorage is located in midtown at 4831 Eagle Street. This is a part time, temporary, and in person position.
