STARTING SALARY :

Civil Engineer I Contract : $27.95 - $35.645 hourly

Civil Engineer II Contract : $29.73 - $37.90 hourly

Civil Engineer III Contract : $31.59 - $40.285 hourly

Civil Engineer IV Contract : $34.60 - $44.11 hourly

Nature of Work

Performs professional engineering work in the design or review of engineering plans and specifications for the construction of streets, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, traffic signals, and parking facilities. Performs professional engineering work in the field of traffic studies including traffic data analysis and warrant studies. Responsible for the analysis and documentation of crash data for all areas within City limits and directs technicians in the deployment of traffic collection equipment. Prepare designs and specifications for construction and / or are responsible for the review of plans submitted by engineering consulting firms to ensure construction is compliant with City of Orlando standards and engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Work assignments are received from a professional supervisor who defines the scope of the work to be performed, but the employee is expected to plan details of work and make technical decisions. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.

Minimum Qualifications

Civil Engineer I - C Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and six (6) months experience in transportation engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Civil Engineer II - C Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and two (2) years experience in transportation engineering, to include at least one (1) year experience in transportation development review, traffic studies, or crash data analysis; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Civil Engineer III - C Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) years experience in transportation engineering including at least two (2) years experience in transportation development review, traffic studies, or crash data analysis; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) required. Ability to work independently. One (1) year supervisory experience desired.

Civil Engineer IV - C Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) years experience in transportation engineering including at least two (2) years experience in transportation development review, traffic studies, or crash data analysis; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida required. One (1) year supervisory experience desired.

This is a full-time CONTRACT Position

Full-time contract position with the same benefits as Regular full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year.

Experience Equivalencies

• Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
