RECREATION REFEREE – YOUTH BASKETBALL

The Town of Mashpee Recreation Department welcomes applications for Recreation Referees for the Youth Basketball program, Grades 3-5; $16.00 / hour. This position works on Saturdays, 8 : 30am – 11 : 30am, from December 13, 2025 – January 31, 2026 (no program 12 / 27).

Minimum Requirements : High School Diploma or equivalent, or currently enrolled in High School, with demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities. Knowledge of the rules and regulations of relevant sport. Prior officiating experience preferred. Or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. CDC concussion training certification required. Must be a minimum of age sixteen (16). Must successfully pass a C.O.R.I. background check.

Responsibilities : Officiates assigned games according to sport-specific rules, program policies, and applicable modifications. Ensures all players, coaches, and spectators adhere to the rules and spirit of the game. Signals participants or other officials to make them aware of infractions or to otherwise regulate play. Handles conflicts or rule violations calmly and professionally.
