We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accountant in Smithfield, Rhode Island, United States. This role primarily involves maintaining accounting and financial information, assisting with month-end close activities, and handling intercompany transactions.
Responsibilities include :
- Maintaining accounting and financial information for transactions on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis
- Recording, reconciling, and confirming intercompany transactions, along with researching and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with month-end close activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger
- Reviewing and analyzing financial statements
- Posting and processing journal entries to ensure all transactions are recorded
- Updating accounts receivable records, issuing invoices, and performing reconciliations
- Reviewing accounts receivable aging and performing customer collection calls
- Applying customer payments and making bank deposits
- Entering accounts payable invoices and corporate credit card transactions
- Reviewing vendor statements and contacting vendors for missing invoices
- Reviewing vendor records for completeness and requesting W-9 forms
- Acting as a backup for accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Participating in a variety of ad-hoc reporting, special projects, and analysis as necessary.
- Proficiency in Accounting Functions is mandatory.
- Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is necessary.
- Familiarity with Budget Processes is required.
- Candidates should have experience with Month End Close procedures.
- Knowledge of Account Reconciliation is essential.
- Candidates should be able to work independently and in a team.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are necessary.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- A degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certification, such as CPA, is an advantage.
- Candidates should demonstrate professional ethics and integrity.
