Member Specialist
Kitsap Credit Union is actively hiring for Member Associate III (teller / personal banker) and Member Specialist (focus on lending) positions all over the Kitsap area, including : Our Puyallup Meridian branch. These positions are responsible for creating exceptional member experience while processing transactions, as well as offering and demonstrating all-digital, remote and self-service options.
Principal Accountabilities
- Assist members with their financial needs and transactions. Identify, develop, and refer business relationships to build market position
- Educate and introduce current and new members to new products and services and assist in self-service options
- Foster and maintain constructive member relationships
- Review and maintain knowledge of products
- Understand and recommend products and services based on the member's needs
- Participate in sales and community events to contribute to branch and credit union goals
- Use effective sales techniques that result in a positive member experience and meet or exceed sales goals
- Maintain knowledge and adhere to operational, regulatory, security, and compliance standards
- Accepts and processes all financial transactions accurately
- Maintains responsibility and follows proper balancing procedures
- Promote and effectively demonstrate digital, remote and self-serve options, with continual education as new products and digital services are introduced
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED required1 Year Financial Institution experience with New Accounts and Consumer Lending experience (HE / HELOC experience preferred but not required)1 Year Cash handling, customer service and / or retail sales experienceIdentify and contribute new ideas and methods to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of processes and proceduresMust be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) within 30 days of hire and comply with the SAFE Act regulationsMeet or exceed referral and sales goalsProvide guidance, training and support to junior team membersAssist members and non-members in opening share, new accounts and basic lendingMember Specialist - Focus on Lending
$26 - $32 per hour depending on experiencePrincipal Accountabilities
Approach, welcome and engage all visitors and members who conduct business with the credit union.Authentically engage members and visitors through asking relevant and meaningful questions, identifying their needs and making appropriate product and service recommendations. Perform daily branch operations, including teller transactions, lending, new accounts and assist members with their financial needs.Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Proactively generate new loan and membership business through branch sales activities, network with local businesses and participate in community events.Actively contribute in the area of continuous quality improvement, solicit and contribute new ideas and methods to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of processes and procedures.Build market position by locating, developing and closing business relationships. Must have the ability to open Business accounts, referring to Member Business Lending for business lending needs.Process loan applications for all consumer lending products as well as Home Equity and Mortgage loans.Promote and effectively demonstrate digital, self-service and assisted self-serve options, with continual education as new products and digital services are introduced.Contribute to and support a positive work environment to ensure an effective, high performing and cohesive team.Adhere to operational, regulatory and security requirements while minimizing losses.Maintain a high level of confidentiality relative to any information received directly or indirectly at all times.Act as a lead in absence of branch manager by assisting and directing the workflow, act as a resource for staff and members to answer complex questions and or resolve non-routine problems that may arise. Perform teller cash audits, review and approve transaction exceptions.Contribute to effective department and credit union operations by performing other related duties as assigned.Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or GEDOne year of experience in a financial institution performing teller, new accounts and account maintenanceOne year of consumer lending (personal, Auto and Credit Cards) experienceAvailability during Saturdays and extended business hoursExcellent interpersonal communication skills including effective listening, speaking and writingAn understanding of credit fundamentals and underwriting criteria preferred.Must be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) within 30 days of hire and comply with the SAFE Act regulationsAbility to present, explain and refer products and servicesProficient in Microsoft Office applications. Learn and maintain strong level of Kitsap Credit Union's core operating systems and self-service technology (iPhones, Androids, etc.)All roles have 5% potential incentive of base pay

Working conditions
