Elementary teachers at St. Louis Catholic Academy play a crucial role in nurturing young minds, fostering academic growth, and instilling strong moral values in our students.
Elementary teachers are responsible for providing high-quality instruction in reading and math while integrating principles of faith into daily lessons and interactions.
The ideal candidate would be a faith-filled person, with a valid state teaching certification.
St. Louis Catholic Academy will relocate to a newly renovated school building (1106 North Jefferson Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63106) for the 2024-2025 school year.
Responsibilities :
1 Curriculum Development and Instruction :
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum and Catholic / Christian teachings.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
Foster critical thinking skills and creativity among students.
2 Spiritual Formation : (if a candidate is Catholic)
Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into daily lessons and activities.
Lead prayer, devotions, and religious ceremonies.
Facilitate discussions on moral and ethical topics in accordance with the Catholic Faith
3 Classroom Management :
Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and spiritual growth.
Establish clear expectations for behavior and discipline consistent with Catholic / Christian values.
Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and kindness among students.
4 Assessment and Feedback :
Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance and character development.
Collaborate with colleagues to analyze assessment data and modify instruction as needed.
5 Parent and Community Engagement :
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, school events, and opportunities for involvement.
Collaborate with parents, parish leaders, and community members to support the school's mission and initiatives.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and extracurricular activities.
6 Professional Development :
Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of Catholic education.
Stay informed about current educational trends, instructional strategies, and Catholic teachings.
Contribute to the professional learning community by sharing best practices and collaborating with colleagues.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in education or related field.
Valid teaching certification / licensure.
Strong commitment to building and maintaining a faith environment.
Experience working with elementary school students, preferably in a faith-based school setting.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members.
Dedication to ongoing professional growth and development.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and classroom supplies.
Working Conditions
Work hours may extend beyond the regular school day for meetings, events, and extracurricular activities.
