Job Description
The Vice President, Primary Care is responsible for the business development, onboarding, and operational success of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Primary Care network. This leader will work closely with the Chief, Primary Care to build and execute a comprehensive strategy for expanding and aligning primary care practices with the Children’s system, develop sound business cases, and serve as the point person for new practices throughout the transition, onboarding and operational phases.
The Vice President, Primary Care will work with the Chief, Primary Care to build a high-performing, market-leading primary care network that consistently meets or exceeds growth, financial and operational targets, delivers high-quality pediatric care, ensures exceptional integration experiences for new practices, and supports long-term sustainability for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and its affiliated physicians.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a growth strategy for Children’s primary care network that aligns with Children’s mission and leverages multiple affiliation models.
- Build robust business cases for prospective practice acquisitions or partnerships, including financial modelling and ROI analysis.
- Lead diligence activities, negotiate deal terms, and manage transaction processes for new practice affiliations and new practice developments.
- Coordinate onboarding of new practices, ensuring smooth transitions to Children’s systems, technology platforms, and operational standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison to new practices during integration and beyond, addressing operational needs, providing implementation efficiency oversight, and aligning expectations.
- Engage cross-functional resources to support deals, transitions, and ongoing operations.
- Oversee operational performance of the primary care network, ensuring appropriate staffing, quality standards, patient experience, and financial sustainability.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for business development, onboarding, and operational metrics, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build a best practice and replicable and scalable practice management system.
- Lead onboarding new practices to ensure smooth and successful transition to Children’s.
- Responsible for operational oversight of practices and clinics within Children’s Primary Care.
- Build and maintain strong relationships, trust, and respect with community and aligned pediatricians.
- Accountable for robust program growth and market distinction of pediatric primary care.
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following credentials :
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, health administration, or related health care field is required.Master’s degree in health administration or business administration is strongly preferred.Experience And Skills
Proven leadership experience in mergers and acquisitions, business development, and / or practice management within healthcare, preferably in primary care or pediatric services.Demonstrated success in evaluating, negotiating, and integrating practice acquisitions or partnerships, including financial analysis and ROI modelling.Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve complex objectives.Team builder and leadership developer with the proven ability to attract, develop, motivate, retain, and lead a high-performing team of professionals.Ability to build consensus / foster community stakeholder relationships.Personal Characteristics
