Job description

Position Summary

The Salvation Army Northern Division Fargo Corps is committed to "Doing the Most Good " by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include support with food, clothing, utilities, rent, securing housing, and both short- and long-term case management, as well as connections to community partners.

The Business Administrator provides on-site leadership in administration, operations, and employee support, ensuring the Fargo Corps functions smoothly and effectively. This role serves as a key liaison between local staff and divisional departments, coordinating HR, compliance, facilities, and IT functions with the support of divisional teams. The Business Administrator also supervises assigned staff, assists with program and community initiatives, and helps maintain an organized, welcoming environment for employees, volunteers, and community members.

40 hours / week, Monday - Friday, 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm

Salary Range : $50,741 - $63,426

Essential Functions (Approximate time spent)

  • Administration & Compliance (30%) : Support administrative operations, including reporting and recordkeeping, processing routine financial documents, and ensuring compliance with divisional and territorial requirements.
  • Employee & Operations Management (30%) : Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention processes for all employees, including seasonal staff, in partnership with divisional HR. Provide supervision for assigned departments (office, maintenance, and other designated areas) and ensure consistent application of organizational policies.
  • Facilities & Vendor Coordination (20%) : Assist with facility, vehicle, and equipment needs by scheduling repairs, arranging maintenance, and coordinating with vendors. Prepare and submit documentation for purchasing, insurance claims, and vendor services, in consultation with divisional staff.
  • Technology & Systems Support (10%) : Maintain technology resources, coordinate equipment needs, support phone and computer systems, and serve as local liaison with divisional IT.
  • Community & Program Support (10%) : Assist with program delivery and community engagement by supporting staff, volunteers, and organizational initiatives as directed.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in business, administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
  • 2-3 years of experience in administrations, office management, or operations, with supervisory experience required.
  • Familiarity with HR processes, recordkeeping, compliance, and coordination of facilities or vendors system helpful.
  • Nonprofit or faith-based organization experience preferred.
  • Must pass all required background checks and maintain a valid driver's license with MVR clearance.

  • Working Conditions

  • Mix of sedentary desk work and active tasks, including walking or standing for extended periods.
  • Requires regular and effective communication with team members, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds, including items needed for special events and fundraising activities.
  • Primarily standard business hours with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities based on program needs.
  • Work is performed in a professional, on-site environment; remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise office, maintenance, and other assigned staff, providing ongoing guidance, performance feedback, and mentorship.
  • Driving / Travel Requirements

  • Operate agency vehicles in support of program operations and organizational objectives.
  • Frequent local travel is required; rare out-of-town or overnight travel may be necessary.
