The Terrace at Crystal is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to serve as the facility’s sole HR professional. This role oversees all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, payroll, benefits, compliance, training, and staff engagement. The HR Director supports the Administrator and leadership team with workforce planning, retention strategies, and culture development while modeling professionalism and healthy work–life balance.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
Collaborate with department leaders to assess staffing needs and support hiring decisions.
Manage new hire orientation and ensure a welcoming onboarding process that supports retention.
Serve as the primary contact for staff concerns and conflict resolution.
Provide leadership with guidance on disciplinary actions and performance management.
Promote a respectful, supportive, and inclusive workplace environment.
Process payroll accurately and on time.
Administer employee benefits, PTO, and workers’ compensation claims.
Oversee compensation programs to ensure fairness and competitiveness.
Use SBV scheduling software to monitor staffing levels and align labor hours with budget expectations.
Maintain and enforce HR policies and procedures.
Manage personnel files and HRIS records.
Ensure compliance with CMS, OSHA, DOL, and Minnesota labor regulations.
Prepare for and support audits and state surveys.
Coordinate in-service trainings and continuing education programs.
Support leadership in developing training initiatives and change management.
Implement recognition, engagement, and retention programs to improve staff satisfaction and reduce turnover.
Analyze staffing patterns, turnover, and labor costs.
Collaborate with leadership to align staffing with resident care needs.
Support strategic initiatives that improve overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Associate degree with significant HR experience may be considered.
SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
Experience
Two to five years of progressive HR experience Preferred.
Healthcare or long-term care experience required.
Experience with HRIS and payroll systems such as ADP or Paycom.
Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, CMS regulations, and compliance standards.
