Job description

What we're looking for :

As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, CNS Healthcare's mission is to serve the people of our communities.

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Co-Responder supports a collaborative, team-based model for behavioral health crisis response in partnership with law enforcement to respond to incidents involving individuals experiencing behavioral health crises in the community. The CIT Co-Responder provides mobile crisis intervention services and connection to appropriate behavioral health services to promote diversion from the criminal justice system and access to mental health and / or substance use care and health care services.

Please Note : This position is primarily community-based as it involves partnering with law enforcement to respond to incidents that occur in the community.

Compensation Range :

The starting pay for this position is $50,830 - $70,542 for limited licensed candidates, and $52,937- $75,315 annual salary for fully licensed candidates, and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.

  • Partner with law enforcement to respond to incidents involving individuals experiencing behavioral health crisis in the community.
  • Engage, assess, and support people by providing direct and indirect services utilizing evidence-based practices with mental illness and / or substance use needs.
  • Provide mobile crisis intervention services, de-escalation techniques, and connection to appropriate behavioral health services to promote diversion from the criminal justice system and access to mental health and / or substance use care and health care services.
  • Engage and case consultation and support the development of crisis-related treatment plans.
  • Identify persons who may be at increase risk to themselves and / or the community through the completion of lethality risk assessments as clinically appropriate (e.g. suicide, homicide, potential for violence, substance use, etc.) with dispositions and recommendations that are included in Individualized Plan of Service (IPOS.)
  • Provide referral to mental health and substance use services, community resources, and other tools / resources for individuals with acute care need to link them to ongoing services.
  • Maintain partnerships and active engagement in the community as well as staying abreast of all available resources in the community.
  • Conduct community-based outreach with law enforcement to identified individuals.
  • Track and provide status updates on cases that have been diverted from the criminal justice system.
  • Engage with and support law enforcement to become better equipped to engage and assist individuals with mental illness and / or substance use needs.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings as assigned.
  • Fulfills mandatory education requirements of CNS including evidence-based programs, internal training, and community education.
  • Utilize a trauma-informed approach to services.
  • Complete all required documentation completely, accurately, and in accordance with CNS policy.
  • Meet direct service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with quality care initiatives including Meaningful Use (MU), Medicare Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) requirements.
  • Ensure that the CNS Healthcare standards of service are applied to interactions with individuals served, guests, and staff.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and conferences.
  • Maintain knowledge and compliance with established policies and procedures, corporate compliance program, code of ethics, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, HIPAA standards, and other regulatory programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications : Required

  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, or a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy

  • Specialized training (including fieldwork and / or internships associated with the academic curriculum where the student works directly with persons receiving mental health services as part of that experience) OR one year of experience in treating or working with a person who has a mental illness
  • State licensure : Limited-Licensed Bachelor's Social Worker (LLBSW), Licensed Bachelor's Social Worker (LBSW), Limited-Licensed Master's Social Worker (LLMSW), Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Limited-Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Temporary Limited-License Psychologist (TLLP), OR Limited-Licensed Psychologist (LLP).
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft office products
  • Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHRs)
  • Working knowledge and understanding of mental illness, medications used in treating psychiatric disorders, and experience with other interventions used to treat psychiatric disorders.
  • Working knowledge of conflict resolution, crisis intervention, person-centered planning, and clinical compliance practices.
  • Ability to share and teach on the continuum of drug use, such as initiation intoxication, harmful use, abuse, dependence, withdrawal, craving, relapse, and recovery.
  • Ability to share and teach about the symptoms of substance use disorders and co-occuring disorders treatment that are similar to those of other medical and / or psychological disorders and how these disorders interact.
  • Ability to work closely with persons with mental or physical limitations.
  • Ability to contribute to an inclusive environment that recognizes the value and contributions of all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports and the ability to formulate and implement an effective treatment plan.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and build positive working relationships.
  • Ability to use discretion and judgmental when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Valid and unrestricted Driver's License
  • Transportation or Automobile accessibility with current automobile / vehicle insurance meeting agency policy requirements
  • Preferred

  • Prior experience in a community mental health setting.
  • Prior experience in the law enforcement and / or criminal justice system.
  • Prior experience working with substances use disorder (SUD) population
