Minimum qualifications :

Must be willing to work overnight / graveyard / weekend shifts

Valid California RVT license

3 years of clinical experience

1 year of ICU / CCU experience

  • Perform all patient treatments ordered by the attending DVM (medicating, TPR, close observation and charting, monitoring intensive care patients, taking radiographs, use IV pumps, monitors, Establish and maintain client relationships and communication
  • Work closely with the Department Coordinator to maintain constant financial communication with clients
  • Administer IV and ET medications as directed by the veterinarian and government Regulations
  • Perform emergency procedures including but not limited to : controlling hemorrhage, administering emergency medications and fluids under veterinary supervision, resuscitating with oxygen, establishing a patent airway by intubation, assist with ventilation, and providing supportive care after a patient is stabilized.
  • Demonstrate competency in IV catheter placement and maintenance.
  • Calculate free-drip IV fluid rates.
  • Calculate CRI rates.
  • Draw lab samples and submit them for in-house analysis, local reference labs, and universities
  • Perform cross-matching and blood typing.
  • Perform blood transfusions and patient monitoring during transfusion.
  • Accurately measure blood pressure
  • Perform advanced diagnostic imaging including but not limited to radiographs and ECG’s
  • Monitor anesthesia of patients with guarded health status as directed by a veterinarian
  • Perform intubation procedures
  • Monitor anesthesia in compliance with state regulations and understand and apply principles of anesthetic depth assessment
  • Extubate and perform anesthetic recovery procedures
  • Place and maintain jugular catheters and peripheral sampling lines
  • Perform urinary catheter placement and management
  • Perform cystocentesis with ultrasound
  • Place and maintain nasogastric tubes
  • Perform advanced fluid therapy including but not limited to CRI’s, use of colloids and crystalloid fluids, managing multiple IV and / or central lines, and using blood replacement products
  • Suture as directed by a veterinarian

8, 10, or 12 hours shifts available

Shift Differentials - Weekends $3 / hr, swing ranging from $5-7 / hr, overnight ranging from $7-10 / hr
