SUMMARY :
The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for performing timely and accurate recordkeeping in QuickBooks for multiple companies within the Lawton Group.
The Accounting Specialist will work closely with the accounting leadership team and will be responsible for full charge accounting activities, including recording daily and monthly transactions in the general ledger, reconciling accounts, month-end close activities, preparing financial statements, developing and maintaining internal controls and supporting various accounting projects as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Reconcile daily sales transactions and cash receipts and record in the general ledger
- Responsible for fixed assets including maintaining ledgers, preparing supporting documentation and recording depreciation, acquisitions, transfers, disposals, gain / loss on sale of fixed assets
- Maintain schedules for fleet to record depreciation, amortization, and leasing transactions
- Coordinate and lead inventory count of fixed assets for all companies and locations
- Prepare and submit property tax renditions for 4 operating companies with multiple locations
- Prepare intercompany invoices and record invoice transactions in the separate companies
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and support review and analysis of income statement accounts
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities
- Assist / Backup other positions in the Accounting Department including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Collections and Billing as required
- Various projects as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE :
- 5+ years related bookkeeping experience required
- Associates degree in Accounting, finance a plus
- Relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience including general ledger, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and accounts payable
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook), QuickBooks and ServiceTitan programs
- Working knowledge of accounting policies and procedures
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
- Motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team to complete duties and projects with little or no supervision
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Requires sitting for extended periods of time. Ability to listen, hear and speak clearly over the phone and focus at close distances to a computer monitor.
WORK HOURS :
Forty (40) hours per week, 7 - 4 Monday through Friday
COMPENSATION :
This is a full-time non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime.
