Position Summary

Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a board-certified Medical Hospitalist (MD/DO) to join our inpatient Hospital Medicine team.

In this role, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care for adult patients in an acute care hospital setting. You will manage complex and medically fragile patients, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge.

This position is ideal for a physician who values clinical excellence, teamwork, and the ability to make a meaningful impact in a community hospital setting.

What You'll Do

  • Provide inpatient care for adult hospitalized patients from admission through discharge
  • Manage complex, acutely ill medical patients
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care coordination
  • Respond to changes in patient condition in a timely and effective manner
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans
  • Collaborate closely with nursing, specialists, and support services
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient transitions of care
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Current unrestricted medical license in the state of Illinois
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Hospitalist or acute care experience preferred
