The Assistant Superintendent supports the on-site construction leadership team in delivering high-quality multifamily developments. This role works closely with the Superintendent and project staff to ensure field operations run safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans, schedule, and quality standards. The Assistant Superintendent plays a key role in day-to-day coordination of self-performed work and subcontractors, with a focus on field execution and proactive problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
Field Management & Coordination
- Assist Superintendent in overseeing daily on-site construction activities for both self-perform and subcontracted scopes
- Coordinate workforce, deliveries, equipment, and materials to support schedule goals
- Monitor trade performance and field progress; assist in resolving schedule and sequencing conflicts
- Support installation of building components per design, specs, and QA / QC standards
Self-Perform Work Support
Assist in planning and managing self-performed trades (carpentry, concrete, framing, etc. as applicable)Verify manpower needs, productivity expectations, and quality control for in-house crewsHelp ensure in-house work aligns with schedule milestones and safety requirementsDocumentation & Reporting
Maintain daily logs, reports, and field documentationTrack labor productivity, equipment usage, and material quantities as neededAssist with RFI and submittal coordination in partnership with project teamQuality Assurance
Perform routine quality inspections and punchlist preparationEnsure work meets architectural and structural plans, specifications, and manufacturer requirementsVerify installation sequencing and building envelope best practices are followedCommunication & Team Collaboration
Support positive working relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, vendors, and design partnersAttend and contribute to site meetingsCoordinate field directives and Superintendent instructions to tradesQualifications
2-3+ years of construction field experience, preferably with a developer / GC in multifamily constructionStrong understanding of construction methods, safety procedures, and technical drawingsExperience supporting self-perform field operations preferredProficiency in project management and field software (Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, etc.)Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced field environment
