The ASE Certified Automotive Technician will provide services and support to the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center contract located at Edwards AFB, California and Palmdale, California. The ASE Certified Automotive Technician will perform duties primarily associated with SCA Labor Category Automotive Worker from the SCA Directory of Occupations 5th edition .

Duties include but are not limited to :

• Provide automotive technician services and parts support for in-house fleet vehicle maintenance, repairs, and services.
• Maintain and repair AFRC vehicles in accordance with FMR 102-34, NPR 6200 and the NASA Fleet Handbook.
• Conduct routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to : Oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals.
• Stay current with rapidly changing automotive technology through continuous paid formal training.
• Assist technicians / mechanics in performing technical activities.
• Use schematics and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve electrical issues
• Perform inspections to ensure vehicles and equipment meet safety standards
• Operate power tools and other specialized equipment to complete repairs
