• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6 : 45 AM to 7 : 15 PM, three shifts per week
• 1 : 2 patient ratio maintained throughout shift
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required with travel experience mandatory
• Must have ICU experience (will recover surgical patients in ICU setting)
• Phase I-II PACU experience required
• Required certifications : ACLS, BCLS, PALS
• Preferred experience : Charge nurse, conscious sedation, telemetry, ventilators, pediatric experience
• Call requirement once every four weeks
• Float to areas of overflow patients, typically surgical short stay unit
• Variable weekend requirements
• Maximum 7 days requested time off allowed
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Navy scrubs required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Recovery time varies from 30-90 minutes depending on patient criteria
• Work with specialized equipment including cardiac monitors, arterial lines, ICP monitoring, doppler for vascular checks, fetal heart monitors, wound vacs
• Care for patients from various surgical procedures including vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, bariatrics, plastics, ENT, ophthalmology, and pediatric procedures
• May be required to work Storm Team / Hurricane Team during catastrophic events
• Cannot work more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week per fatigue policy
• 8-10 hours of non-billable modules required pre-start and annually Facility : This major regional medical center operates a comprehensive Phase I Recovery Unit providing observation and care for patients who have undergone surgical procedures requiring anesthesia. The facility receives patients directly from the OR, EP Lab, Endo, IR, MRI, and ICU patients needing recovery before unit admission. The PACU operates 24 / 7 with staffing based on OR needs, featuring 26 beds across 4 rooms with a daily census of 75-100 patients. The facility offers extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams, maintaining a varied and challenging practice environment.
