Position Description : This is a Benefits Specialist position. The Benefits Specialist performs a variety of tasks related to benefits administration, including Open Enrollment, and implementation of the Workday system, for a group of more than 12,000 employees.
The Benefits Specialist provides excellent customer service to employees who call into a high-volume phone center using enrollment and other technology to answer questions and resolve issues.
The Benefits Specialist uses technology to research, analyze, evaluate, and present the County Employee Benefit Plans / Programs in compliance with contract provisions, County procedures, and Federal and State statutes, rules and regulations in order to successfully assist County employees.
Skills Required :
2) years directly related experience in employee benefits administration, which includes customer service experience, of a self-funded, employer sponsored group health plan.
Benefits administration experience relative to the position may include but is not limited to : interpreting plan provisions, providing input on plan design and rates;
writing employee communications and plan documents; and / or using HRIS and vendor systems.
Experience Required : Two (s) or more years of experience with Benefits administration experience for a self-funded, employer sponsored group health plan for an employer with 5,000 or more employees, and benefit enrollment system platforms technology.
Experience administering health and welfare benefits under the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations. Experience in a phone intensive, customer service-oriented environment.
Experience on the functionality of the Workday system. Dependent and event verification experience. Documented HIPAA training and experience handling confidential material in a healthcare or employment environment.
Education Required : High School Diploma or GED
