Title : Senior ElectricalEngineer
Location : Baytown TX(OnSite)
Rate : $ 45 on W2
Roles& Responsibilities :
- The Electrical Engineer as part of the EngineeringServices department at a major integrated petrochemicalmanufacturing facility is responsible for the optimizationtroubleshooting and design of a wide variety of electricalequipment.
- This involves time in the fieldensuring that the installed electrical equipment contributes tosafe environmentally sound reliable and profitableoperations.
- Maintain close contact withoperations maintenance engineering and project development toidentify and implement electrical equipment repairs and reliabilityimprovements
- Design and specify electricalequipment such as motors breakers relays generators substationsbuses starters transformers and other industrial electricalequipment (480V to 230kV)
- Coordinate projectsfor new or replacement equipment among engineering maintenance andoperations
- Commissioning startup assistanceand support of electrical systems with maintenancepersonnel
- Serve as an electrical technologyexpert liaison between project engineers plant maintenance andoperations personnel
- Supports and interfaceswith business teams to maintain and improve electrical reliabilitywhile reducing maintenance costs.
- Participatesin screening optimization basic design preparation for electricpower systems
- Develops project scoping designand detail specifications for electric power systems
- Monitors Engineering Quality Control and leadscontractors electrical work to ensure consistency with projectspecifications and guidelines
- Supportpreparation of Design Basis Memorandums and developSpecifications
- Provides technical support andservices to operating facilities
- Performspower systems simulations and analyses including load flow shortcircuit motor starting and reacceleration arc flash transientstability and relay coordination
- UpdatesCompany practices and specifications
- Appliescustomers Global Practices Design Practices General Information andInstructions codes and standards in support of projects during thedetailed design phase
- Participates actively inthe Electrical Community of Practice
- Participates in incident investigations in support ofassets
- Performs Risk Assessments and developsEquipment Strategies in support of assets
- Manages electrical area classification for assets withinthe facility supported
Skills and Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Sciencedegree in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstratedexperience in petrochemical industry with power systems as anElectrical Engineer
- 10 years experiencepreferred.
PreferredQualifications / Experience :
- Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel atdifferent levels of engineering design maintenance andmanagement.
- Ability to work with internalcustomers as well as suppliers and repair facilities of electricalequipment.
- Good interpersonalskills
- Ability to communicate effectively andclearly in both written and verbal form for the purpose ofinstructing others in technical matters and obtaining cooperationfrom various personnel.
- Problem solving / troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Knowledge of Electrical Safety standards and AreaElectrical Classification standards (API NFPA NEC andNETA)
- Knowledge of SKM Modeling System Studiesand Coordination.
- Willing to traveldomestically or internationally in support of electrical equipmentconstruction or repairs.
- Work experience inpetrochemical production units and awareness of surroundings from asafety and environmental point of view.
