Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Security Officer (1.0 FTE, Variable Shift) to work in the Security Department at Swedish Mill Creek in Everett, WA.

Due to the continuous public contact of the position the highest level of customer service skills is essential. Security Officers conduct random patrols of Swedish Medical Center / Swedish Edmond property, respond to and investigate security incidents, report safety hazards, and appropriately document actions and observations made during the shift.*

In this position you will have the following responsibilities :

• Remain observant and alert at all times.
• Report all incidents and hazards appropriately in written reports and in passing information between shifts. Notify supervisor and / or lead of any significant incidents that might impact department or hospital operations as soon as possible.

Complete required documentation in a timely manner.

• Demonstrate the highest standard of calm and professional customer service and provides the highest degree of assistance in responding to the needs of patients, visitors and staff.
• Work independently and resolve problems appropriately.
• Think quickly and formulates an effective plan for dealing with unexpected situations. Is able to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.

Qualifications :

Required qualifications for this position include :

• Basic Security Officer Certification through International Association of Healthcare Security and required within 9 months of employment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required within 30 days of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
• Successful completion of TASER training and certification within 9 months of employment with annual re-certification
• Customer service experience and / or training

Preferred qualifications for this position include :

• Valid Washington State Drivers license with insurable driving record as determined by Swedish Medical Centers insurance provide
• Healthcare security experience

About the Mill Creek Campus.

Swedish Mill Creek has 86,000 square feet of space on three above-ground levels and a partial basement. The E.D. which is open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week features 18 emergency exam rooms and six additional observation beds.

It shares the first floor with a complete diagnostic imaging center with X-ray, mammography, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI, which is staffed by partners from Seattle Radiology.

A full laboratory and offices for primary- and specialty-care providers are on floors two and three.

Swedish Mill Creek can immediately treat patients suffering from stroke to severe lacerations or burns, broken bones, sports injuries, allergic reactions, food poisoning, work-related injuries and many other medical emergencies and non-emergencies.
