Surgical Technician (PRN) - Savannah, GA
Optim Health System - is seeking a PRN Surgical Tech for our Savannah location.
General Duties :
Prepare and organize the operating room with instrumentation and equipment, assist surgeons during surgical procedure, and maintain a sterile environment.
Job Requirements :
- Prepares operating room for surgical procedures, assembles supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Assists in clean-up of rooms between procedures and at the end of the schedule.
- Cleans surgical suites after each case and performs terminal cleaning of the surgical suites to ensure a safe patient environment.
- Assists in monitoring and maintaining instruments, supplies, and equipment in the unit.
- Maintains proficiency in knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and A.O.R.N. standards of asepsis.
- Participates in the sponge, needle, and instruments count with the circulating nurse as needed.
- Responsible for identifying and preserving specimens received during surgery.
- Reports to supervisor any unusual occurrences, breaks in technique, malfunctioning equipment, any unsafe condition or potential hazard.
- Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
OTHER JOB DUTIES :
- Orders supplies and maintains records, reports, log, etc.
- Maintains the rights, dignity, and confidentiality of the patient.
- Participates in the OSC emergency, fire, and disaster drills.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
- Follows all OSC Policies and Procedures.
- Attends required in-services and educational programs.
- Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
- Assists physician in performance of procedures or test in clinical setting.
- Assists physician in wound care, application of splints and dressings, and dressing changes.
- Takes vital signs. Performs a variety of tests.
- Circulates in the O.R. under the supervision and direction of an R.N.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
Certification as a surgical technologist preferred.
