Position Summary : The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for enhancing company profitability and customer satisfaction though strategic procurement of materials. This role involves timely purchasing at competitive costs, coordinating vendor activity and negotiations, and analyzing pricing trends to optimize purchase timing at the lowest cost. The Purchasing Specialist provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers, demonstrates a strict level of knowledge of all the procedures, and is an ambassador of our culture.
Essential Functions :
- Runs and reviews usage reports through Cloud Suite Distribution.
- Determines the best procurement path from multiple vendors.
- Identifies, evaluates, and maintains relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
- Places, follows and coordinates shipping of purchase orders.
- Reviews purchase order confirmations for discrepancies.
- Reviews trends in vendor pricing and sales activity to determine the correct timing of purchases.
- Maintains accurate records of purchases, supplier communications, and inventory levels.
- Creates and maintains a positive culture (internal and external).
- Assists with special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Adheres to all company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Strong critical thinking and organizational skills are essential.Ability to effectively build rapport with both internal and external customers.Demonstrates a positive attitude and ability to work well both independently and in a team setting.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Capable of prioritizing multiple conflicting responsibilities and managing time effectively.Proficient in all Microsoft Office products, with advanced skills in Excel.Must be able to communicate in English regarding the essential functions of the position.Required Experience and Education :
Three years of previous purchasing experience is required.Bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and college coursework.Previous experience with CSD Enterprise is preferred; ERP experience is required.Physical Demands :
Requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend and stoop as necessary.Requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures and elements, noise, and fumes.Disclaimer :
