Central Sterile Technician

Job Summary

This position will ensure that sterility is achieved for all items utilizing both the steam and hydrogen peroxide process. Ensure that all items, instruments, and equipment are cleaned, decontaminated and packaged properly for the sterilization process in a manner that makes it safe for use, and prevents cross contamination. Maintain properly wrapped sterile linen and packs for areas. Correctly assemble packs / trays for customers. All counts in trays and on the shelves are correct and delivers and retrieves items in a timely manner. Items not available at time of packaging a tray should be identified and reported to the supply coordinator and Operating Room Management. All items will have a location with minimums and maximums and the staff will work closely with the supply coordinator to assure accurate inventory. Maintain high standards of work practice to give high quality of care. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must obtain CRCST certification within two years of initial employment and maintain certification during employment.
