About the Job

As a Manager in BBVA's Strategy and M&A team, you will play a key role in driving the bank's strategic initiatives, investments, and partnerships. You will lead high-impact strategic assessments, manage M&A and fund investment activities, and foster connections with the innovation ecosystem, including startups, investment funds, and strategic partners. The role combines rigorous financial analysis with market intelligence and ecosystem engagement to support BBVA's innovation and growth agenda.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strategic Innovation Scouting : Identify and assess fintech startups, emerging technologies, and scalable business models that align with the bank's innovation and growth strategy
  • Thought Leadership : Collaborate with internal stakeholders to interpret trends in AI, data-driven finance, embedded banking, and digital assets
  • Partnership Development : Cultivate and leverage a robust network in the innovation ecosystem (VCs, accelerators, startup founders, tech hubs) to source opportunities and strategic insights
  • Cross-functional Collaboration : Work closely with product, digital, and strategy teams to integrate external innovations into internal capabilities
  • Investment Analysis & Execution : Conduct due diligence, financial modeling, and risk assessment on equity and fund investment opportunities, with a focus on high-growth
  • Drive the project management and coordination : Of internal and external teams, ensuring successful execution of M&A projects and strategic assessments

Requirements :

Education : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field. MBA, CFA, or postgraduate studies are a plus

Experience : 5+ years of experience in equity investments or investment funds or strategy functions, ideally in financial services

Skills :

  • Extensive knowledge of financial analysis, valuation techniques, and strategic business evaluation
  • Strategic mindset and strong accountability
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Exposure to startups, venture capital, or entrepreneurshipeither directly or through a strategic / investment lens
  • Solid grasp of technology trends, AI, and digital business models in banking and financial services
  • Strong professional network in the innovation and fintech ecosystem in Spain or Europe
  • Travel : Occasional domestic and international travel is required

    With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $180,000 to $205,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
