POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager is responsible for executing key accounting functions and ensuring compliance with regulatory, audit, and internal control standards across the organization. This position supports a high volume national distribution business and will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, facilitating external audits, and ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. The Accounting Manager will lead the monthly close process, manage general ledger activities, calculate sales commissions, and perform banking and treasury functions.

This role requires a high degree of technical accounting knowledge, analytical accuracy, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Sales, and Operations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal reporting deadlines.
• Support external financial audits and coordinate with Ernst & Young (EY) to provide schedules, explanations, and documentation as required.
• Maintain and test internal controls to ensure ongoing SOX compliance; identify and remediate control deficiencies as needed.
• Prepare, review, and process complex journal entries related to accruals, reserves, and adjustments.
• Oversee and validate sales commission calculations for commission-based personnel, ensuring alignment with compensation plans and policy.
• Manage banking responsibilities, including daily cash reporting, reconciliations, and support for wire transfers or cash movement as directed.
• Assist with financial analysis, forecasting, and special projects to support strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with management to improve processes, enhance internal controls, and drive accounting efficiency.
• Maintain documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and control narratives to support audit readiness.
• Ensure compliance with Company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Additional duties as assigned.
