Highway & Roads Market Sector Director

Primary Responsibilities

Market Sector Directors (MSD) drive our business within HDR's matrix management structure. The Highway & Roads (H&R) market sector is the largest, with nearly $1B in annual revenue globally, serving clients managing highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridges. HDR provides services including bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling.

This role requires understanding of H&R clients, funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures at various levels. Responsibilities are divided into :

• Market leadership and business development (~70%)
• Staff development (20%)
• Support to Operations (10%)

The MSD sets the vision for HDR’s growth strategies, supports local and regional initiatives, and develops staff to meet financial goals. It involves coordinating with multiple leadership levels, supporting business development, client management, and strategic growth outside the US, including Canada, UK, Middle East, and Australia.

The role also entails engaging with clients, promoting HDR services, leading industry participation, and developing strategic partnerships. Responsibilities include overseeing market share growth, client relationships, staff recruitment and development, profit and loss management, project delivery, and quality assurance.
