Director, Market Access at CareDx, Inc.

The Director, Market Access will have direct responsibility for working with state Medicaid’s and regional commercial payers to establish medical policy, in-network status, reimbursement to maximize access of CareDx products for patients and providers. This position is key to establishing and maintaining dedicated partnerships with critical state Medicaid’s and regional payers across the U.S. The role requires frequent interactions with senior level medical directors, state Medicaid medical directors, policy makers and their staff as well as the CareDx team. Exceptional communication and presentation skills are essential. The Director will also play a crucial role in developing tailored payer value messages and materials relevant to Medicaid payer stakeholders and working with CareDx Patient Advocacy and Government Affairs.
Responsibilities
- Articulate and sell the company value proposition to state Medicaid’s and regional payers.
- Create unique synergies and partnerships that leverage the CareDx portfolio and accelerate patient access to our products and testing services.
- Work collaboratively with company business units (Sales and Marketing), Medical Affairs, Market Access team members, Patient Advocacy, and Government Affairs to achieve new or improved coverage policies.
- Design and implement strategies leveraging KOLs, Patient Advocacy Groups, state regulations, clinical and cost data to negotiate favorable medical policy / coverage with payers.
- Lead and drive in-network contracting with regional payers, negotiate favorable reimbursement rates, and obtain pricing on state Medicaid fee schedules.
- Develop and execute state-specific access strategies and target pipeline aimed at increasing payer coverage for CareDx products.
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with key decision-makers at payer organizations, including medical directors, reimbursement specialists, policy makers, administrators and staff.
- Work closely with internal teams, including revenue cycle management, sales, and clinical, to gather and present relevant data to support reimbursement and policy decisions, demonstrating the value of CareDx products.
- Monitor competitor strategies and market dynamics to identify opportunities and threats in payer contracting and medical policy.
- Partner with sales, marketing, clinical, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment on market access priorities and provide insights that help shape the broader strategy.
Skills & Capabilities
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, business, or related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent) is a plus.Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in market access, payer contracting, reimbursement strategy, or similar roles within the diagnostics or medical devices industry.Proven experience in driving in-network contracting and securing positive medical policies with state Medicaid’s and regional payers.Experience leveraging state bio-marker laws to drive coverage of CareDx products.Strong understanding of payer requirements, reimbursement processes, and coverage criteria for diagnostic products.Ability to manage multiple payer relationships and projects simultaneously with a focus on achieving measurable results.Must be able to travel at least 15% of the time.Excellent negotiation and communication skills.Strong problem-solving abilities to resolve complex payer issues.
Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement systems, including commercial payers, Medicaid, and government programs.Ability to present clinical and economic evidence in a clear, compelling manner.Ability to analyze payer trends, competitive dynamics, and market access opportunities to inform strategy.Strategic mindset with the ability to work independently and drive results.Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and results-driven with strong attention to detail.Ability to adapt to the fast-changing healthcare and reimbursement environment.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence key decision-makers.Experience with sole-sourced diagnostic tests.Additional Details

Salary range : $162,000—$210,000 USD (Remote : US only roles). The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on factors such as experience, education, and other criteria. This role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses / incentives and restricted stock units.
