Position Overview :

The Grant Administrator / Project Specialist supports the Schools of Science and Engineering with their grant activity. This position will assist faculty and staff with managing their awards, processing requisitions, creating purchase orders, preparing financial reporting, entering travel, and other tasks in support of grant activity.

Responsibilities :

  • Build relationships with school faculty, provide customer services and act as a point of contact for the School of Engineering's pre- and post-award needs as well as the School of Science's post-award needs.
  • Financial Reporting - Help to create progress reports as required by regional, federal, state, and private funding agencies. Produce accurate financial reports.
  • Support Faculty with post-award needs such as processing hiring requisitions and invoices, completing forms, and provide guidance. Work with offices across campus such as Finance and Business Services, Human Resources and others to contain information and ensure best practices.
  • Proposal Development and Submission - Work with school of Engineering faculty to develop and improve grant proposals and assist with budgeting. Work with the staff of the Office of Grants and Sponsored Research to pull institutional information and complete required proposal forms.
  • Financial Reconciliation - reconcile grant accounts for assigned schools on a regular basis to ensure accuracy of records, timely reporting, and compliance.
  • Proposal / Award Compliance - Ensure compliance with institutional as well as funder guidelines and policies. Ensure that all institutional rates are applied to proposals as required. Work with school faculty and staff to build understanding of compliance-related requirements. Provide training as needed.

Qualifications : Required :

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • At least two years of experience in grant administration, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Personal computer skills are essential; working knowledge of the Microsoft software suite is required, especially use of spreadsheet (i.e., Excel) word processing, and database applications. Understanding of Google suite is required as well.
  • Strong verbal, writing, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Preferred :

  • Prior experience working with Oracle Cloud as a financial system of record.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of professionals including faculty.
  • Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).
  • Ability to understand and apply complex information pertinent to grant and contract submissions, as well as TCNJ, funding agency, state and federal regulations, and Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks in a professional manner.
  • CRA, CPRA, or CFRA Certified.
