Job Description : We are seeking dedicated and passionate Special Education Teachers (SPED) to join our team for the 24 / 25 school year near Topeka, KS.
These full-time positions (37.5 hours per week) involve working in a resource setting middle school classroom.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide inclusive classroom experiences for students.
- Adapt and modify lessons and activities to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Monitor and assess students' progress and adjust teaching methods as needed.
- Provide support and guidance to students in academic, social, and behavioral areas.
- Work closely with parents, caregivers, and support staff to create a supportive learning environment.
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills :
- Must hold a valid Kansas Special Education teaching certification.
- Previous experience working in special education is preferred.
- Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and differentiated instruction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting students' success.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
