Job description

Director, Business Development (M&A)

Littelfuse is looking for a Director, Business Development (M&A) to contribute to the inorganic buildout of our various segments. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development, the Director, Business Development (M&A) will work closely with senior leadership across the company to build a pool of potential acquisition targets, prioritize these targets based on strategic criteria into an actively managed opportunity funnel, and help establish relationships with key stakeholders to position Littelfuse as the acquiror of choice. This person will also partner with our corporate and business unit teams to successfully execute deals.

About the Job

  • Develop and continually expand a pipeline of strategically attractive acquisitions that will deliver strong returns on capital
  • Work closely with business leaders to build an M&A funnel through strategic gap analysis and adjacent market work
  • Leverage available public and proprietary databases and resources to identify and research companies that fit with our growth priorities and strategies
  • Prioritize targets and monitor their performance
  • Initiate contact with potential acquisition and partnership targets, and develop mid- near- and long-term target relationships resulting in actionable opportunities
  • Actively manage and refresh the funnel
  • Work with business unit leaders to articulate strategic rationale.
  • Partner with Littelfuse's corporate and business unit teams to successfully execute deals
  • Coordinate and support executive deal reviews target profiles, strategic rationale, optionality assessment, and financial analysis
  • Rapidly identify and communicate the deal levers that will define winning and losing
  • Simplify the complex to enable decision making
  • Manage cross-functional due diligence teams with a hands-on, team-oriented approach
  • Ensure effective management of post-closing deal terms and hand-off to business unit integration teams
  • Special high priority projects
  • Various strategic assessments that could include deep competitive analysis, evaluation of new industry spaces for Littelfuse, or entry options for Littelfuse within new geographies as an example

About You :

  • Demonstrate an ability to listen, understand unfamiliar businesses and transaction concepts quickly
  • Demonstrate presence, credibility, integrity and trustworthiness in highly confidential situations
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and interact at multiple levels both inside and outside Littelfuse
  • Written and verbal communication and presentation skills with ability to translate complex concepts to easily understandable talking points and presentation materials appropriate for all organizational levels, including executive and board-level audiences
  • Have the professional presence to be able to communicate and operate comfortably and efficiently with senior executives both inside and outside Littelfuse.
  • Be creative, intellectually curious, self-starting and possess a strong work ethic
  • Be willing and able to travel as required, including on short notice
  • 5+ years evaluating the market attractiveness and strategic fit of new businesses / markets / domains
  • 2-4 years M&A deal experience working in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Consulting, or Private Equity
  • Active participation in 1-5 closed projects
  • Undergraduate degree in technology (engineering / sciences) and top tier MBA preferred
