Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced mid-level Labor and Employment Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. This individual will play a pivotal role in supporting attorneys in labor and employment-related matters, assist with case management, and ensuring the efficient operation of the legal department. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of labor and employment laws, a proven ability to handle complex legal tasks, and a commitment to delivering exceptional support to the legal team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Organize and manage discovery files, schedule depositions, prepare deposition materials and exhibits, and coordinate expert witness preparation and involvement.

Draft and prepare litigation pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and other legal documents under the supervision of attorneys.

Experienced with litigation databases and case management software, such as Relativity, for efficient document management and case organization.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, utilizing these tools to create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets with precision.

Provide comprehensive trial preparation support, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, and attending trials to assist attorneys as needed.

Work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.

Strong understanding of Civil Procedure Rules, including both Federal and Georgia State-specific rules, ensuring compliance in case handling.

In-depth knowledge of Georgia State and Federal court rules, with hands-on experience using electronic filing platforms (e.g., Odyssey) and adhering to local court protocols.

Excellent writing and proofreading skills, ensuring all legal documents are clear, concise, and free of errors.

Skilled in legal fact-checking and citation verification, including Bluebook citation style, to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.

Requirements

Education : Undergraduate degree and paralegal certificate required; will consider candidate with comparable relevant legal experience in lieu of a paralegal certificate.

Experience : Paralegal with 4-6 years of litigation experience required.

Skills :

Excellent case management skills, effectively organizing, tracking, and managing labor and employment cases from inception through resolution.

Capable of obtaining, reviewing, summarizing, and indexing case records and documents to support litigation efforts.

Experienced in preparing and serving subpoenas, as well as managing and organizing discovery, including coordinating document production, responses to requests for documents, and interrogatories.

Must have keen problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities and solutions-oriented thinking.

Ability to work under pressure with composure and resilience in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Ability to use independent judgment and discretion and adapt to changing work situations.

Equipment To Be Used : Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, fax, machine, copier, scanner, etc.

Essential Job Functions :

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring prolonged use of hands, fingers, and wrists, including extensive computer use.

Proficiency in using technology, including computers, telecommunication devices, and other office equipment.

Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet business demands

Working Conditions : This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three full days per week in the office. Specific scheduling details will be discussed with your direct supervisor. Occasional extended hours may be needed to meet business needs.

Pay Ranges :

This represents the presently anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith’s pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.

This is a non-exempt position. The hourly wage range for this role is $37.50 to $46.34, with an estimated annual compensation range of $78,000 to $96,400, based on expected hours.
