Medical Biller (Temporary)

Location : Visalia, CA (on-site)

Pay : $20$25 / hour (DOE)

Schedule : Full-time, MondayFriday, business hours

Duration : Now through January 31 (possible extension; no temp-to-hire)

About the Role A busy medical practice in Visalia is seeking an experienced Medical Biller to support billing operations during a short-term transition. This is a true temporary assignment focused on maintaining clean claims, steady cash flow, and timely A / R follow-up while the practice outsources portions of its billing. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit clean claims to commercial, Medicare / Medicaid, and workers' comp plans (electronic and paper).
  • Post payments, adjustments, and denials; reconcile daily batches and EOB / ERA activity.
  • Conduct A / R follow-up, appeals, and re-bills to reduce days in A / R and increase collections.
  • Verify insurance eligibility / benefits and resolve authorization or coding-related issues.
  • Research and correct claim edits / denials (CPT / HCPCS, ICD-10, modifiers).
  • Communicate professionally with patients, payers, and internal staff regarding balances and disputes.
  • Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation in the billing system and clearinghouse.

Qualifications

  • 35 years of recent, hands-on medical billing experience in a physician or imaging practice (radiology experience a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of CPT / HCPCS, ICD-10, payer rules, claim edits, and appeals.
  • Proficiency with a major PM / EHR and clearinghouse workflows; comfortable with payer portals and Excel.
  • Proven results reducing A / R and resolving denials.
  • Excellent attention to detail, urgency, and follow-through.
  • Currently unemployed and able to commit through the end of January (no exceptions).
  • HIPAA compliant; background check required.
