Industrial Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift (Monday–Friday, 3 : 00 p.m.–11 : 00 p.m.)
Who We’re Looking For
Hood Container Corporation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in Chicago, IL . If you're a proactive problem solver with strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills, we want to hear from you!
Starting Pay : $32.00 - $39.00 / hour based on skills and experience.
What You’ll Do
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational procedures.
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Work with variable speed AC / DC drives, servo motion controls, encoders, and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis and recommend long-term solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities in the plant system.
- Support continuous improvement by enhancing machine reliability and maintenance practices.
- Follow OSHA and Hood Container safety standards, including energy isolation protocols.
- (Preferred) Work with vision and robotic systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.Three or more years of maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing environment required, corrugated / packaging industry experience preferred.OR A relevant technical degree, certification, or equivalent from an accredited technical school, community college, or a formalized apprenticeship program may substitute for 3 years of the required experience.
OR Relevant military experience (e.g., Navy Machinist Mate, Air Force Electrical & Environmental Systems, Army Prime Power Production Specialist) with demonstrated mechanical, electrical, and technical proficiency is highly valued and may substitute for 3 years of the required experience.
Technical Skills
Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Ability to read electrical meters and schematics.Proficiency in power tools, basic carpentry, plumbing, welding, HVAC, and electrical troubleshooting.Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.Physical & Work Requirements
Lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and overhead work.Work around moving machinery, extreme temperatures (-20°ree;F to 125°ree;F), and at heights up to 38 feet.Flexibility to work overtime as needed.Our Mission & Vision
