Position Summary
To provide quality patient care services to the patients of Baz Allergy, Asthma, & Sinus Center under the direction of physicians / providers and the nursing staff. Supports the goals and the objectives of the Company.
- Front desk reception
- Answers phones and schedules appointments
- Greets patients with a smile, completion of registration forms, and gives instructions
- Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology
Clinical :
Measures and records vital signsInterview patients while recording and updating medical information (history, chief complaint) and medications etc. into the EHRPrepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening testProvides patient education with regards to medications and instructions set forth by the provider to manage their healthPrepares and administers medications with physician authorizationMaintains supplies, equipment, stocks and prepares exam room for patientCleans and sterilizes instrumentsCheck and responds to patient phone calls (communicating w / the provider on course of action and relaying to the patient)Review and prepare requests and prior authorizations for medicationsPerforms routine allergy skin testing per protocols and documents results.Full shot office responsibilityQuote estimates for OV and proceduresEducates testing patients regarding environmental controls, treatment plans, and medicationsFamiliar with signs and symptoms of allergy testing systemic reactions. Familiar with emergency equipment and protocols for treatment.Seeks immediate assistance from MD, NP, or PA in dealing with emergency treatment for allergy testing patientsAttendance is required for all In-Service trainingsTravel to other clinics, within reasonable distance, will be required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalentGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable experience.3 years medical office experience preferred.Current CPR certification required. Medical Assistant Certification a plus.Must be self-directed and able to work independentlyAttention to detail a mustProfessional, calm and courteous demeanorExcellent verbal and written communication skillsCOMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and WordElectronic Medical / Health Record System experienceSafety and Confidentiality - Follows OSHA regulations and the safety guidelines ofthe Practice. Follows HIPAA policies and procedures. Respects and maintains patient confidentiality. Use CPR skills when necessary.

pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific style or type of care provided. In the performance of certain patient care tasks, the Medical Assistant may be expected to have sufficient manual dexterity in order to safely perform various skills and techniques. Tasks and expectations may vary by clinical site and medical practice. Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and / or fingers in a repetitive manner. May be exposed to acutely ill patients, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and airborne allergens used during skin testing and immunotherapy.
Well-lighted, heated and / or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation;Moderate noise (examples : business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with regular working hours; Occasional overtime and / or travel to other clinics may be required.
