Position Summary
At the direction of the Dean and in consultation with academic leadership and campus authorities, the incumbent advances the goals and objectives of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. As Associate Dean and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the incumbent plans, directs, and evaluates the School’s business and financial operations to support informed decision-making. The role ensures compliance with University policies, audit standards, internal controls, and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the incumbent serves as a strategic partner to the Dean, providing high-level support for initiatives, acting as a primary liaison and trusted advisor, and ensuring the Dean is fully prepared for meetings, follow-ups, strategic engagements, and organizational priorities. The position requires familiarity with the entertainment arts industry and a strong interest in its evolving practices. Responsibilities encompass the Dean’s Office as well as the Department of Theater and the Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media.

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications
5 years Demonstrated ability to direct and manage a full administrative program and to accomplish articulated objectives in the face of multiple challenges. (Required)Exceptional financial skill to use resources appropriately and to best advantage across multiple fund sources. (Required)Strong and clear ability to design and implement a full human resources program including a commitment to staff empowerment and engagement. (Required)Ability to apply deep analysis and creative problem solving to issues and situations across the full range of University business and academic matters. Strong ability to work collaboratively in the resolution of problems. (Required)Skill in creating a safe and appropriate environment for staff, students, faculty, patrons and others. Knowledge of safety, environmental, and emergency practices. (Required)Demonstrated ability to develop and modify organizational plans to meet emerging needs. Skill in designing an inclusive planning process and implementing it appropriately. Skill in advocacy for School needs and direction.
