Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Communication, Public Administration or other closely related field, plus four (4) years of directly related experience; of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity. Salary is dependent on experience. All job-related experience must be included on the resume portion for it to be considered in the salary offer.

Essential Functions

The following duties and responsibilities are representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. The omission of specific duties and responsibilities will not preclude it from the position.

• Manages the execution of a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the division, addressing multiple audiences including the general public, members and donors, educators, and planetariums / museums.
• Oversees advertising contracts and ensures timely submission of artwork to vendors, plus management of the Division's website, publications, social media, blog, and other distributed materials.
• Supervises the Marketing Associate and Public Relations Coordinator, including hiring, onboarding, training, assigning and reviewing work performance, annual performance appraisal, and discipline.
• Researches and identifies new government, corporate, foundation, and private funding prospects.
• Writes, edits and formats grants, proposals, reports, and other funding correspondence.
• Works with key staff to develop and assess ideas for fundable proposals.
• Ensures compliance with all grant fulfillments and reporting as required by donor organizations.
• Guides the collection of data and maintains relationship management database.
• Serves as the liaison to program officers and community partners and organizations.
• Leads the planning of the annual gala and other fundraising events. Solicits sponsorships and in-kind donations to support fundraising events.
• Oversees the strategic promotion of the Division's membership program, cultivating new and renewing members, including growing philanthropic level members.
• Manages advisory board meeting and planning logistics. Prepares minutes for advisory board.

Work is typically performed in a standard office environment, usually Monday through Friday. May require lifting and carrying up to a maximum of 50 lbs. and 6-8 hours of standing / walking on event days.

Late night, early morning and weekend schedule adjustments are occasionally necessary to accommodate special events.
