Civilian Traffic Investigator

Job Title

The City of Greenville seeks a highly motivated individual to investigate minor motor vehicle collisions on roadways and in parking lots involving only property damage. This position does not investigate crashes involving personal injury and / or fatalities.

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Examples Of Duties

• Respond to dispatched assignments and conduct traffic crash investigations involving only property damage;
• Determine contributing factors to vehicle crashes in accordance with North Carolina law;
• Complete and submit investigative reports to the traffic supervisor for review;
• Establish and maintain scene safety using traffic control devices at the scene of vehicle crashes;
• Photograph and document vehicle damage;
• Direct vehicles in need of towing as needed from crash scenes;
• Direct traffic at crash scenes and other events requiring traffic direction;
• Perform other duties and related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience : High school diploma or GED; AND Six (6) months or more of related experience; AND Completion of Certification Training from the North Carolina Justice Academy or ability to complete training upon hire.
