Providence is calling a Housekeeper (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week, Day Shift) to work in the Environmental Service Patient Care at Providence St.

The Housekeeper will perform a variety of cleaning duties in support of maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive hospital environment.
Duties focus on cleaning equipment, fixtures, furnishings, and removal of trash and / or medical waste to designated areas, and stocking of expendable sanitary supplies for patient and public areas.
Housekeepers also provide moving assistance to hospital departments, and conference room setups as requested by Conference Services.
In this position you will :
- Perform a variety of cleaning duties in support of maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive hospital environment :
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability of sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, wiping, vacuuming, buffing, and disinfecting duties to facilitate a sanitary, safe, and attractive hospital environment
- Clean and maintain all designated hospital areas assigned to, including its facilities, equipment, machinery, fixtures, windows, and furnishings in accordance with approved procedures
- Collect, remove, and transport linen, trash, and medical waste to designated hospital areas
- Obtain and distribute assigned work areas with cleaning and expendable sanitary supplies
- Practice facility and unit safety and infection control practices & proper equipment handling :
- Prepare cleaning solutions in accordance with the dilution instructions of posted labels and other written documentation
- Provide cleaning assistance to other Environmental Services personnel if required or directed
- Demonstrate ability to operate mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment and other cleaning tools and accessories as required
- Collect and transport regulated medical waste including sharps and other potentially infectious materials
- Practice safe work habits to prevent personal injury and equipment damage
- Assist in cleaning emergency spills, as requested
- Move patient beds and other furnishings from and to patient care and storage areas
- Submit verbal requests for equipment, supplies and repair services to Environmental Services Supervisors and / or Housekeeping Leads
- Work in accordance with the instructions of posted schedules and written procedures and be able to perform efficiently with minimum supervision
- Assist with conference room set-ups and re-sets, furniture and equipment moving projects, recycling activities, and regulated and hazardous waste handling activities
- Participate in department or organizational activities as scheduled or necessary :
- Participate in scheduled meetings and educational in-service sessions as required
- Attend at least one continuing education experience during the appraisal year, either in-house or an outside offering
- Utilize clear communication processes and complies with department protocols :
- Communicate in a courteous manner during all contacts with patients, visitors, and hospital staff
- Read, understand and follow detailed instructions
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Is well groomed and wears a clean and neat uniform dail
- Wear hospital identification badge at all times while on duty
- Demonstrate ability to work with patients, managers and clients of various ages groups :
- Consider patient, manager / client background and work history to effectuate positive work experience / relationship
- Respond appropriately according to age related needs and considerations
Qualifications :
Required qualification for this position includes :
Valid Washington State Driver's license in good standing
