Provides highly skilled technical expertise in advanced planning. Identifies potential ROW, RR, Utility & Environmental needs early in project development and oversees multiple design and / or building construction projects. Performs utility coordination. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect with final project approval authority. Requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants, and construction firms. Employees at this level work independently on assignments; unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties :
- Assists in reviewing and overseeing plan packages submitted by consultants.
- Coordinates design work among TxDOT entities, consultants, and contractors.
- Designs projects, including calculations and sketches of plans, layouts, and typical sections.
- May assist in planning and coordinating office operations.
- May schedule, coordinate, and prepare documents for public hearings.
- May serve as a lead worker or project leader.
- Receives project assignments, determines work requirements, and coordinates scheduling.
- Reviews and compiles complete plan packages for review and signature.
- Reviews environmental documents.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience : 7 years in design, plan preparation, utility coordination, and 811 requisition. Experience can be full-time or prorated part-time; college education or technical training may substitute on a year-for-year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
